Bio

Judy-Ann Moule is a multidisciplinary artist, who completed a DFA (Photomedia) at the National Art School, Sydney in 2022. She currently converting a shearing shed, on her property in Armidale, NSW, into a space for collaboration.

Her feminist practice uses installation, sculpture, and photography to develop a reparative aesthetic. Transforming abject materials (eg. hair, teeth) and discarded everyday objects into awkward and eerie assemblages, she creates unsettling material situations that the observer must make sense of. Her work sits at a point of tension between repulsion and seduction, which allows the viewer to connect with some of the serious themes she is exploring. Moule’s Doctoral project considered how a contemporary visual arts practice, focused on the original concept of dis/touch, a neologism of disgust and touch, could advance discourse around sexual violence.

Moule has exhibited in both solo and collaborative exhibitions internationally and nationally.

In addition to solo Doctoral exhibitions ’just enough’, Hoff Gallery, National Art school and ‘heaviness of distance’, ArticulateUpstairs, Leichhardt, Sydney she has collaborated in performance works aka I am knitting, and uncompleted gestures weigh heavily, Articulate Project Space, Sydney and a solo exhibition at Factory 49, Sydney.

She has also engaged in collaborative work with the international group ‘What’s Your location?’ at Bigscreen Southend, London, Brazil Bookfair and Contemporary Art Platform, Kuwait.
Previous exhibitions include Platform for Emerging Arts #8, Leyden Gallery, East London, Per | Form, CAP Kuwait, Culor from East & West MOMA Kuwait; Derive, Queensland College of Art, Brisbane, Australia; ROADTRIP 2013, Lockup Cultural Centre Newcastle, Australia; Metro Arts Gallery, Brisbane; ‘The Block’ Gallery Brisbane; West Wall Gallery Iceland; Sunshine Coast University Gallery; QUT Art Museum as well as artist-run initiatives – Busy Brick and Soylent Spot ARI’s Level (QLD), Inbetweenspaces (Fortitude Valley).
